Mary Ellen, With Helen now gone, I guess you are the only one remaining in Saginaw with any ties to the Bernthal clan. Age 100–nice! It’ll give Adele at 94 something to shoot for! Jeff

Helen was dear to us. She was a kind, gentle person with a very easy going personality. We were so fortunate to have met her so long ago. Originally she was a neighbor to my grandparents, Mary Jean's parents, George and Josephine Townsend. My mom, Mary Jean bowled with Helen in the early years. They were both secretaries and had both lost a husband. As the decades went by, we saw Helen on and off. She never changed. She was gentle with her voice and always had a smile for us, a little story to tell, or offering a gesture of kindness. We were saddened to hear of Helen's passing but grateful her passing was peaceful. She has made the journey back to her maker and is also back with important people from her past. We were all fortunate to have known Helen. We can count our blessings!
