Helen E. Arndt (Argle), age 100, of Saginaw, MI, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 13, 2019. Helen joyfully celebrated her 100th birthday with family just over a month ago.
The daughter of the late John and Hannah Furst, Helen was born on March 4, 1919, in Alabaster, MI. She married Norman Argle on August 12, 1944. He preceded her in death on January 8, 1970. She married Lawrence Arndt on March 21, 1981. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1997.
Helen was a graduate of Alabaster High School and the Saginaw Business Institute, and then worked for many years at General Electric. Helen was a faithful, longtime member at Peace Lutheran Church in Saginaw, where she gladly served on various boards and committees. She loved golfing, bowling, and visiting her family. Helen will always be remembered for being a kind, gentle, and loving step mom, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt.
Helen is survived by her dear stepchildren, Rev. Richard (Pamela) Arndt, of New Port Richey, FL, and Nancy (Peter) Loe, of Hernando, FL; step grandchildren, Jeffrey Arndt, Paul Arndt, Amy (Kevin) O'Hare, and Catherine (Joseph) Cheries; step great grandchildren, Connor, Kevin, and Quinn O'Hare, Christopher and Mackenzie Cheries, and Kyle Arndt; her sister, Inez Gross; several nieces and nephews, including special niece and nephew, Mary Ellen and Pete Tallon.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Norman Argle and Lawrence Arndt; brothers, Walter Furst and Leonard Furst; and sisters, Lorena Klish and Elna Brown.
Helen's family extends their deep gratitude to the entire staff at Hoyt Nursing Home for their loving care and kindness for Helen.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, April 17, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Ave., Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Matthew Hauser will officiate. Entombment will take place at Oakwood Mausoleum, Saginaw.
Memorials in honor of Helen may be given to the Peace Lutheran General Fund, care of the church, or to the charity of your choice.

Mary Ellen, With Helen now gone, I guess you are the only one remaining in Saginaw with any ties to the Bernthal clan. Age 100–nice! It’ll give Adele at 94 something to shoot for!

Helen was dear to us. She was a kind, gentle person with a very easy going personality.
We were so fortunate to have met her so long ago. Originally she was a neighbor to my grandparents, Mary Jean's parents, George and Josephine Townsend. My mom, Mary Jean bowled with Helen in the early years. They were both secretaries and had both lost a husband. As the decades went by, we saw Helen on and off. She never changed. She was gentle with her voice and always had a smile for us, a little story to tell, or offering a gesture of kindness.
We were saddened to hear of Helen's passing but grateful her passing was peaceful.
She has made the journey back to her maker and is also back with important people
from her past.
We were all fortunate to have known Helen. We can count our blessings!
