Obituary
Rosalie May Phillips, age 89, loving mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019, after a brief illness.
The daughter of the late Right and Frances Foutch, Rosalie was born September 1, 1929, in Gladwin, MI.
Rosalie was an active, adventurous person her entire life. She played basketball in high school and came to Saginaw after graduating. She worked at Michigan National Bank with ladies who remained friends for life, even having a party together just last week. She volunteered at the Covenant Cooper Gift Shop for 34 years, was a member of First Presbyterian Church, and generously gave her time to several organizations. Rosalie was always ready for an adventure, which led her to travel, a hot-air balloon ride, a tattoo at 80, and more. She loved the Detroit Tigers, Seinfeld, Sex and the City, Tony Bennett, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Jeopardy, Robert Redford, Paul Newman, solitaire, shopping, keeping busy, working in her yard, and visiting friends and family, just to name a few. Rosalie made the best tuna fish and egg salad sandwiches, Boston Brown Bread, and Spatz bread for toast in the morning. Rosalie was creative, stylish, thoughtful, and loving. She will be missed by her dear family and friends.
Rosalie is survived by one daughter, two sons, and their spouses, Frances Wachner of Saginaw, Zephaniah IV and Sapa Phillips of Lynn, MA, and Dr. Jon and Nancy Phillips of Pomona, CA; grandchildren, Rachel Wachner, Matt Wachner and Katie Myers, Major Marada and Leaphy Phillips, Polina DeSantis and Pat Santerre, Sodaly and Ricardo Fernandes, Zeph Phillips V, Jennavi Phillips, Kirsten Riselay, Kevin Riselay, and Christopher Phillips; great grandchildren, Luke, Mace, and Sophie Phillips, Leah and Derek DeSantis, Sonaya, Ricayah, and Camrith Fernandes; siblings, Ronald Foutch and Beverly Robinson; sisters in law, Ruth Foutch, Nancy Foutch, and Gayle Foutch; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Riselay; siblings, Florence, Frank, Louis, and Dennis Foutch, Donna Glasgow, and Betty Edick; and former husband, Zephaniah Phillips, Jr.
Visitation will take place Sunday, July 21, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday, July 22, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Ted McCulloch will officiate. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw.

Dear Ms. Phillips, I did not know you, however, I do know of you. I know you must have been an extraordinary woman and mother. I know this because I know your daughter Frances. I know Frances is the most kind, selfless, caring woman I have ever met. She has been such a good friend to both me and my sister, and also to countless others. This is due to you. I know you must be so proud of her and that you are smiling down at her now. I pray she finds peace in knowing you are in a better place now.
