Obituary
Robert “Bob” Timothy Gilman, of Saginaw, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2022, at Toni and Trish House in Auburn. Bob was born on January 6, 1946, to George E. and Helen (nee Dembowske) Gilman in Saginaw, Michigan.
Robert graduated from Ferris State University with an Associate's Degree and continued his education at the University of Michigan where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Bob worked in the food and beverage industry throughout his life, which took him to Detroit, Ohio, and Florida. He was most proud of his time as general manager of Mise En Place in Tampa, Florida. Most recently, he was the food director for an assisted living center. Bob loved Michigan Football, trips to Traverse City with friends, and staying at the family cottage on Sage Lake. He was a supporter of music and the arts, including Broadway plays. Bob enjoyed traveling, taking trips locally and throughout Europe. He will be remembered as being a “foodie,” always enjoying a good meal and a glass of wine at a great restaurant.
Bob is survived by his beloved niece and nephews, Liz (Tim) Gohm, Ross (Dawn) Yule, Rick (Bobbie) Gilman, Chris (Allison) Yule, Alex (James) Theriault, Ryan (Jackie) Gilman, and Kelly (Dynis) Flores; several cousins including Marcia Busch, with whom Bob was very close; and dear friends, Susan Quinn, Patrick Edlinger, MeMe Carter, CiCi Carter, Betty Stricker, and Silvia Ortega. He was preceded in death by his siblings, James Gilman and Richard Gilman; his parents, George and Helen Gilman; nephew, Christian Yule; niece, Barbara Gilman; and his life partner, Roger Cauffman.
A Memorial Visitation will take place on Saturday, September 17, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m., at St. John's Episcopal Church, 123 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602, with Rev. Curt Norman officiating the service and Rev. Dr. Pamela Renna assisting.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Advanced Hospice Care LLC, 4705 Town Centre Rd, Suite 1, Medical Arts 1, Saginaw, Michigan, 48604 or to Toni and Trish House, Post Office Box 125, Auburn, MI 48611-0125.

In the 70’s when I was in grad school at the University of Dayton in Ohio, I worked as a part-time waiter at Smugglers Inn in Dayton. Bob was the manager. I wasn’t there that long and soon left for my home in Ca. Bob showed-up several years later at my office in Sausalito, seeking investors for a restaurant in Monterey. Could never figure-out if he was serious. Or how he found me as those were the days before the internet.

I met Bob in first grade and went through eight years of school at Holy Cross. He has always been a sweet, cheerful, kind person. He was the first guy I danced with. We got together again when he moved back from Florida. He was a wonderful friend. I will miss him.
