Obituary
David “Dave” Allen Buttrey, passed away on Friday, September, 1, 2023, at the young age of 69 at a Covenant HealthCare Hospital in Saginaw, MI.
Dave learned early in life what many people struggle to learn: how to be perfectly content with what he had, regardless of how little or much. In his younger years, a cold Labatt Blue, an acoustic guitar, and the company of friends and family was all he needed to be happy. He spent most of his career working as an expert in construction. Dave could always be counted on to help family or friends with household repairs and construction projects. He passed on his knowledge to his twenty nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who loved him like a father. Later in life, he worked as a cross-country semi-truck driver.
His favorite place on earth was his lakefront property, Camp David, in Curran, MI. It was here that he felt most at peace, surrounded by the forest and staring at the beautiful McCollum Lake.
He spent long hours talking with family, especially his beloved sisters, Linda (Buttrey) Benedict and Barbara (Buttrey) Rodriguez. David was preceded in death by his father, Homer Buttrey, mother, Barb Buttrey, and sister, Linda (Buttrey) Benedict.
A celebration of Dave's life will be held from 12noon-4p.m., October 14, 2023, at Orleans Sports Cafe, 100 McComb Place, Mt. Clemens, MI 48043.

Sorry for your loss, sincere condolences. Memories - Did a lot of partying together in the garage, wrenching on are junk Hondas, trying to keep them running. The late 60's and early 70's is somewhat fussy but had a lot of fun. Sincerely - John C. Lassen

I send my love and deepest sympathy to all of David’s family. Growing up in the 1960s, I always looked forward to visiting the Buttreys. Cousin David’s mother was my father’s sister, and we had such a good time on our visits. David was about 4 years older than me and he turned me on to such great music. In fact, the first time I heard Paul McCartney’s Ram, Rod Stewart, Blood Sweat and Tears, Chicago, and even Cheech and Chong, was through David’s record collection. One of my favorite memories from childhood was observing David putting chocolate chip cookies or chocolate cake into a glass of milk and eating it that way. Oh my gosh, I never saw that before! Rest in Peace, dear Cousin.
