Obituary
Colleen Ann Schmidt, age 93, of Saginaw, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 1, 2024. The daughter of Herman and Katherine (Nuerminger) Dirker, Colleen was born on December 7, 1930, in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Milton “Milt” Schmidt on June 27, 1953, and together they shared 67 years of marriage. Milt preceded Colleen in death on November 9, 2020.
Colleen was an avid hockey fan. She and Milt held season tickets for the Saginaw Gears and Saginaw Spirit, rarely missing a game. Colleen enjoyed flowers and tending to her garden. She was also a faithful, long-time member of Peace Lutheran Church. Of all the things Colleen loved in life, time with her family was treasured most by far.
Colleen is survived by her loving daughters, Sue Schmidt, Nancy Schmidt, and Sharon Schmidt; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn Dirker, Debbie Dirker, Myrtle Schmidt, Edwin (Joyce) Schmidt, Larry (Margie) Schmidt, and Gary Schmidt; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton “Milt” Schmidt; her parents, Herman and Katherine Dirker; her brothers, Eugene Dirker and Wallace Dirker; her parents-in-law, Alexander and Alma Schmidt; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Schmidt, Lois and William Kleekamp, and Vicky Schmidt.
Memorial Visitation will take place Friday, December 6, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Service at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Blvd., Saginaw, MI 48602. Pastor Erik Schmidt will officiate. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw, in Spring of 2025.

Dear Sue, Nancy and Sharon, I'm so very sorry to hear about Aunt Colleen passing. Your mom was one of the kindest, most gentle people I've ever known! I can't think of Easter without thinking of your mom and her fantastic Bunny cake!!!! Love you guys, glad you're there for each other..

Sue, Nancy and Sharon, so very sorry for your loss. Aunt Colleen was one of a kind. She always was interested in family, what sports we were playing , work and life in general. She truly cared about everyone and had a great interest in your life. I really enjoyed my conversations with her growing up. Thoughts and prayers for you in your time of loss.
