Mary Rogers
December 20, 1942 - October 25, 2026
Obituary
Mary Alice (McGuire) Rogers, age 83, passed away while surrounded by her loving and caring family on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Wellspring Assisted Living Memory Care in Saginaw.
Mary was the daughter of the late Louis T. and Irma (Kuster) McGuire. She was born December 20, 1942, in Saginaw, Michigan, and grew up on a farm in Zilwaukee where she established many lifelong friends and memories.
She married Robert T. “Bob” Rogers in 2001, and they resided together in Rancho Mirage, California. They shared many happy years at their golf course, traveling and visiting family until Bob’s death in 2019.
Mary valued her Catholic faith and was employed with and retired from the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw within the Office of the Education Department. She also enjoyed a part-time job at Hudson’s.
Essentially, what brought Mary the greatest happiness was time spent with family. Her grandchildren enjoyed spending time with her. Mary absolutely loved the laughter and sometimes even chaos when they would come together to share a meal, play some games and tell stories.
Christmas was her favorite time of the year when endless boxes of Hallmark ornaments and decorations came out for the Holiday Season and family gatherings. Mary was a savvy shopper and any day she could find a deal was a good day. In her younger days she enjoyed bowling and a good game of cards.
When Mary moved back to Michigan, she resided at Lakeview Estates where she appreciated the events and friendship within the Lakeview Estates community.
Mary is survived by her children, Mark (Martha) Howay, Philip (Kathleen) Howay, Deborah Coffey, and Bryan (Sharon) Howay; grandchildren, Scott Howay, Eric (Stephanie) Howay, Matthew (Laura) Reinke, Jacob (Hallee) Coffey, Alyssa Coffey (Luke Walkley), Travis Howay, and Ethan Howay; great grandchildren, Devin, Alannah, Donovan, Isabella, and Easton; great great grandchild Isaac, her sisters, Shirley (Joe) Mitchell and Joyce (the late Don) Johnson. Many loving nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. “Bob” Rogers, son-in-law, David “Dave” Coffey, her parents, Louis T. and Irma McGuire, Niece Diane Morse, nephew Tim Rummler.
A big thank you to the Wellspring Hospice team and the Memory Care staff for all their care and support of Mary and her family.
A Memorial Visitation will take place on Monday November 9th from 10am until the time of Funeral Mass at 11am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 6400 McCarty Road, Saginaw, MI 48603.
A private burial of cremated remains will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw Township at a future date.
