Janet Amelia Roekle, age 95, was called home by her Savior on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, in Saginaw, Michigan. She was born on February 27, 1931, to Frederick and Clara Roekle (nee, Prielipp) in Adrian, Michigan. She was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and faithful servant of the Lord.
Janet was baptized on April 5, 1931, and confirmed on April 2, 1944, at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Adrian, Michigan. She and her family moved to Saginaw in 1944. Janet graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary on June 10, 1948.
She devoted her life to serving others, retiring in 1983 after more than 35 years of faithful service at Michigan Bell Telephone Company (AT&T).
Janet was an active and cherished member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Altar Committee Member, and a member of Women Serving Christ. She was a dedicated volunteer in the church office, Pregnancy Care Center, Meals-on-Wheels, READ Program, Martin Luther Home (Saginaw Senior Care), and VITA Program (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance).
Janet is survived by her dear brother and sister-in-law, James and Betty Roekle of Saginaw, MI; seven nieces and nephews, Jo Carmichael, Beth Cornwell, Philip (Julia) Doletzky, Rebecca (Lawrence) Schwartz, Pastor John (Katy) Roekle, Lori (John) Schlavensky, Mary (Craig) Gantner; 19 great nieces and nephews; 21 great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Clara Roekle, her sister, Esther Doletzky, her brother-in-law, Frederick Doletzky, and nephew-in-law, Charles Carmichael.
Memorial Visitation for Janet will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 4:00 p.m., until 7:00 p.m., at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48602.
The visitation will continue Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1020 Court Street, Saginaw, MI 48602.
Burial of her cremated remains will take place privately at Deerfield Cemetery near other family members in Adrian, Michigan.
Memorials in honor of Janet may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 175th Anniversary Fund or to Michigan Lutheran Seminary, 2777 Hardin Street, Saginaw, MI 48602.
