Cheryl Kabat

Cheryl Lee Kabat, age 82, of Saginaw, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at at her home while surrounded by family. The daughter of Kenneth and Harriet (Clark) Elmer, Cheryl was born on April 29, 1944, in Flint, Michigan. She married the love of her life, Dale Kabat, on January 23, 1965. Together they shared 52 years of marriage until his passing in April of 2017.

Cheryl worked as a beautician for much of her working life and loved her job. She truly enjoyed doing hair and making others feel beautiful. She also loved gardening, painting, sewing fishing, and camping. Cheryl will be missed and will always be remembered for her immense love for her family, grandkids, and great grandkids.

Cheryl is survived by her loving children, Cindie (“Butch”) Burden, and Holly (Jeff) Smith; grandchildren, Matthew Seegers (Stephanie Schumacher), Stephanie Seegers (Tony Rivera), and Brittany Judd (James Wallace); great grandchildren, Kameron Hill, Jeremiah Seegers, Layla Seegers, Mason Seegers, Maddox Rivera, Jaxson Rivera, and Jayce Judd Wallace; brothers, Ronald (Kristine) Elmer and Robert (Jackie) Richards; sisters, Geraldine (Al) Brown, Mary Jane McInerney, and Christine Houshiar; brother-in-law, Thomas (LaRue) Kabat; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cheryl was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dale Kabat; their son, Martin “Marty” Kabat; her parents; and her brother, Richard Elmer.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602. Mark Provencher will officiate. Interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw.
