Stephen Yanca

Yanca, Stephen J.Kochville Township, MichiganPassed away Monday, June 4, 2012 at St. Mary's Hospital at age 65 years. Stephen was born December 4, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois. He was married to Beverly J. Ferguson on June 30, 1973. He had been employed by Saginaw Valley State University as a Professor of social work. Stephen was a member of the Kochville United Methodist Church and was a die-hard MSU fan. Surviving besides his wife Beverly are three children; Catherine A. Yanca and her husband Noah L. Levin, Caroline J. Yanca, Jonathan F. and Emily Yanca and a granddaughter Calla E. Yanca-Levin. Also his sisters Linda Yanca and Bob Lesner, Gail A. Yanca, Christine (Dave) Yanca-Laura and in laws; John and Judy Ferguson of Kansas City, MO.; Keith and Sue Ferguson of Parkville, MO; Gary and Cathy Ferguson, Elizabeth and Arthur Turner of Saginaw. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Arlene Yanca, his in-laws Howland and Hope Ferguson and brother in law Frederick M. Ferguson. My soul mate, friend and loving husband, beloved father and grandfather passed away after a valiant fight with cancer. He will be dearly missed and his memory will be cherished. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 7pm at the McIntyre Funeral Chapel, 500 N. Michigan. Reverend Susan Bennett Stiles will officiate. Family and friends are welcome to visit at the McIntyre Funeral Chapel on Thursday from 2pm until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the SVSU Foundation or to Kochville United Methodist Church.
