I don't have the words to properly express my thanks and awe for all Dr. Hugh Sulfridge did for me. He flew to Boston in 1956 to assist on my first surgery when I was 9 months old ... so I could walk. My 2nd & 3rd surgeries were before I reached 13 and again his incredible talent and dedication allowed me to walk properly. There were many more surgeries to follow and he was always there. I can't count the number of times he left his family in the middle of the night to meet me and my parents at the hospital. The time he returned from vacation a day early to check on me and literally saved my life when I was 18. I owe him so much and I fortunately had the opportunity to thank him for all he did for me. For all those times he was gone, I thank you all as his children, for putting up with his life as a surgeon. All the holidays, evenings, and weekends he was gone from home couldn't have been easy, yet he impacted thousands of lives just like mine and I'm sure many others feel as I do. Hugh Sulfridge wasn't just our doctor - he was an orthopaedic pioneer, a friend and my hero. Thank you for sharing him with the world. His life is wonderful testimony to a man who truly lived. Love, Kit

Hugh was a very dear friend to me and my son Derek. Hugh put thru school at Saginaw Valley State University and I graduated in 1991. He was very kind and loving to my son Derek. He taught him how to play chess as a young child and was always there for support. I've kept in touch with Hugh throughout the years .. just speaking to him several weeks ago. I will miss him very deeply. My condolances to Becky, Mary, Pete and Martha and to include the entire extended family. I will miss him greatly. ~ Cheryl Wood-Coates and Derek Wood.

We met Hugh Sulfridge thru my sister Cheryl Wood who was a very close friend of Hugh's in the late '80's and the early 90's. We loved Hugh. He was such a wonderful and interesting man. My family and I visited Hugh and stayed out in the barn on several occasions. We have missed seeing him, as we moved to Atlanta, Georgia 20 years ago, and would hear about him often as my sister Cheryl kept in touch with him. Our sympathies and love to Hugh's family. ~ Steve and Tamela (Jesse) Andersen and our daughter Valiant Briggs.
