Ann Shawl

Shawl, Kathryn “Ann”Saginaw, MichiganPassed away peacefully on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Hoyt Nursing & Rehab Centre. She was born November 11, 1920 to the late Murray and Bernice Sills. She married Wallace Shawl on August 14, 1942. At the time of his passing in 1959, she returned to Saginaw with her three children: Sue-Ellen (Michael) Clayton, Michael and Patrick (Linda) Shawl. She went on to work at Michigan Bell Telephone CO. until retirement. Throughout her life she was surrounded by a dear group of friends; Bill and Eleanor Call, Mary and Stu Smith, Don and Irene Haight. They spent many memorable weekends at her cottage in Topinabee where a “prayer service” was held daily at 4:00 on the porch. Left to cherish those memories is her beloved Bill, whose devotion to her is legendary to all who knew them. Also her three children, five grandchildren: Jesse Shawl, Annie Weinstein, Brent (Jamie) Shawl, Katie (Brad) Keilitz, Molly (James) Fisher and seven great grandchildren. There was also a special place in her heart for all of the Call children and their families. She is also survived by a sister in law Marjorie Sills and many nieces and nephews. Her brother's James “Bud” Sills, his wife Amy and Danny Sills predeceased her. Ann's family would like to give special thanks to the caring staff at Hoyt. We could not have gotten through without your love and support. Funeral service will take place at the McIntyre Funeral Chapel, 504 N. Michigan Ave. on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 12 Noon with visitation from 10am until time of service and burial in St. Andrew Cemetery.
