Charles Stevens

Stevens, Charles Henry (Hank)Bridgeport, MichiganPassed away Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at the Sterling House in Saginaw at age 93. Hank was born in Saginaw, Michigan on November 4, 1919, the son of the late Charles Stevens and Irene Stella Fahringer Stevens. He married Mary Louise Thomas in Arkansas on September 5, 1943. Hank was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945. Returning home he went to work for Consumers Power Company for 30 years where he retired in 1975. Hank served on the Saginaw County planning Commission, was president of the Bridgeport Gun Club, served as a director of the Saginaw County 4-H. He trained many young hunters as instructor of the Michigan State gun safety program. Hank loved hunting, fishing and woodworking. Those who cherish his memory include: his wife Mary Lou of 70 years; children, Susan (Rudy) Heckmann, Debby (Michael) Wierzbinski and Jeanne (Jim) Conger; 9 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; sister Catherine Brush. Hank is preceded in death by a daughter Mary Kay in 1952, two brothers John and Jim and a sister Mary. Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, October 25, 2013 at 11am at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 3926 Williamson Rd. Fr. John Mancini will officiate. Visitation will take place on Thursday from 4-8pm at the McIntyre Funeral Chapel, 504 N. Michigan Ave. and at the church on Friday from 10am until time of service. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Society or St. Christopher Catholic Church.
