Eugene Lomas

Eugene Newell Lomas, 89, of Saginaw, entered into eternal life, Tuesday, March 15, 2016, in Saginaw.Eugene was born on September 29, 1926, to Newell and Cecelia Lomas, in Berkley, MI. He was a devout husband and father guided by his Catholic faith in all aspects of his life. He was married for 56 years to Frances, whom he often referred to as his angel. They were blessed with nine children, and enjoyed a marriage rich in faith, family and friends. His commitment to provide for his family led him to many small business ventures, the last of which was owner of Dan Billy Gene Lomas Appliance Repair Service.Eugene is survived by his children, Mary Lievertz, Vincent Lomas, John (Mary) Lomas, Elizabeth Lomas, Thomas (Karen) Lomas, Margaret (Jim) O'Grady, Peter (Denise) Lomas, and Judy (Jim) Bowen; twenty-three grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and one brother, Richard Lomas.He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Frances Elizabeth Lomas; son, Timothy (Susan) Lomas; granddaughter, Jennifer Lomas; grandson, Michael Contes; and great-granddaughter, Sarah Baek. Visitation will be held Friday, March 18, 2016, from 5:00 p.m., until time of Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., at Fischer Family Funeral Services, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48602.Visitation will continue on Saturday, March 19, 2016, from 10:00 a.m., until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5376 State Street, Saginaw, Michigan 48603. Rev. Fr. Rick Bokinskie will officiate.Burial will be held privately at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.
