Joan Socha

Joan J. Socha, age 81, of Saginaw, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 7, 2016. The daughter of Walter and Monica (nee Pieprzyk) Szymborski, Joan was born on June 12, 1934, in Saginaw. She married Alfred D. Socha on November 27, 1954. He preceded her in death on June 14, 2007.Joan was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and a past member of the Germania Town and Country Club, American Legion Post 439, and Ladies' Auxiliary. She enjoyed wildlife, bird watching, visits to the casino, golfing, working in her yard, traveling the world and fishing excursions to Canada with her husband, Al, and especially spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Joan is the beloved mother of Christopher (Kristen) Socha, Jean (Greg) Heilbronn, Steven (Sheryl) Socha; adoring grandmother of Allen (Lesley) and Adam Socha, Matthew (JoAnne West) Heilbronn and Andrea (Mark) Fischer, Melissa and Lauren Socha; proud great grandmother of Sawyer, Parker, Athen, Eleanor and James; dear sister of Walter (Rita), Thomas (Susan), and the late Richard Szymborski; loving aunt, cousin, and friend of many. Joan will always be dearly loved and sorely missed.Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday, May 13, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Fr. Ronald Wagner will officiate.Our family would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who contributed to our Mom and Grandma's care over the past few months: New Hope Valley Assisted Living, Covenant Harrison's 7th Floor Staff, Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Centre, and Cartwright Hospice.
