Obituary
Genevieve Ann Purman (Countegan), age 96, of Saginaw, passed away in Saginaw on March 24, 2016. She was born March 23, 1920 to the late Joseph and Otillie (Webber) Countegan in Saginaw, Michigan. Genevieve married Raymond Purman on May 24, 1941. They were married for 60 years and he preceded her in death in 2002. Genevieve was a member of the former St. Norbert Catholic Church in Munger. She belonged to the St. Norbert Altar Society, enjoyed family, traveling, camping, and playing cards.Surviving Genevieve are her five sons; Bernard (Judith) Purman, Richard (Toni) Purman, Thomas Purman, Daniel (Cecelia) Purman, and Timothy (Pamela) Purman; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; her brother, Linus (Sylvia) Countegan; her sister, Rosemary (Rod) Gast; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Genevieve was preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth Cooper and Marion Rouesseau.Visitation will take place Tuesday, March 29, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48601. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Saginaw.Memorials in Genevieve's name may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, c/o the church, or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
