Obituary
Jean Wierzbicki, age 86, of Bridgeport, passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in Foley, Alabama. The daughter of John and Christina Ruppel, Jean was born on July 17, 1930, in Saginaw. She married Henry Wierzbicki on August 12, 1950.
Following 25 years of service, Jean retired from the Bridgeport Spaulding School System. She loved trips to the casino, traveling, and always being on the go.
Jean is survived by her loving daughters, Linda (Jerry) Turner, Kay (James) Secord, and Karen McGowan; her grandchildren, Lindsay (Joe) Sawicki, Amy Nelson, and William Nelson; her great grandson, Drake Narvais; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her cats, Missy and Ramsay. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her grandson, Aaron Nelson, her siblings, Jack (Dorothy) Ruppel and Betty (Ken) Fritzler, and her son-in-law, Leo McGowan.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, May 5, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until time of Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602. Interment will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport.
Memorials in Jean's name may be given to the Saginaw County Humane Society, Post Office Box 1823, Saginaw, MI 48605 or to the Copper Country Humane Society, Post Office Box 453, Houghton, MI 49931.

Having lived on Riverview Dr., we often passed "the Wierzbicki Place". When Hank was
alive, he often greeted us with a warm smile as he drove by on his tractor. In later years,
it was Jean's smile that greeted us, oftentimes as she was returning from the barn where
she cared for any stray cat needing a home.
For a year, I had an office in the school district's administration building where Jean worked. She was such a friendly, helpful person.
A former school superintendent, Marty Atkins, was our neighbor and good friend. On a
number of occasions, he spoke with fondness of Jean.

Jean was a board member of the Saginaw county association of retired school personnel and an active member for many years having served as a caller, a captain, treasurer, and reservations chair. I appreciated her friendly demeanor and smile as we worked together on the SCARSP board. I am sending blessings and condolences to her family and friend. She was a charming woman , a lady who will be missed.
