Obituary

Dale Edwin Kabat, age 73, of Saginaw, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 20, 2017, at Cartwright Hospice Residence. The son of Walter and Erma Kabat, Dale was born on June 25, 1943, in Saginaw.

Dale loved to work and did so for much of his life. He was an entrepreneur, worked in shoe sales and as a manager for Red Wing Shoes, sales at Draper Auto, retired from service as a fireman in Saginaw Township, and eventually retired from semi-truck driving. Dale served in the Navy on the U.S.S. Oriskany (CV-34) and was a proud patriot. He loved driving, traveling (especially to Drummond Island), fishing, camping, gardening, and cookouts with his family. Dale will be remembered for his quick wit, great sense of humor, and his tremendous love for his family, grandkids, great grandkids, and his friends.

Dale is survived by his wife and partner, Cheryl Kabat; his children, Martin Kabat, Cindie (“Butch”) Burden, and Holly (Jeff) Smith; grandchildren, Matthew Seegers (Stephanie Schumacher), Stephanie Seegers (Tony Rivera), and Brittany Judd (James Wallace); great grandchildren, Kameron Hill, Jeremiah Seegers, Layla Seegers, Mason Seegers, Maddox Rivera, Jaxson Rivera, and Jayce Judd Wallace; brother, Thomas (LaRue) Kabat; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Gene Kabat, and sister, Jane Bierlein.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 808 Weiss Street, Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Michael Korte will officiate. Interment will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw.
