Obituary

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Donald Gilbert Kapp (66) on May 24, 2025, at the Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, Louisiana. The Kapp family has chosen to honor him with cremation.

Donald was born on December 25, 1958, in Saginaw, Michigan to Adolph Kapp and Mary Lucy Kapp. A resident of Midland, Louisiana, Donald held a career as a truck driver and maintenance technician for Action Traffic and State of Michigan Highway Department. His dedication and work ethic were poured into every project he tackled.

Beyond his professional pursuits, he was a veteran that served his country in the United States Army. He had a passion for sports and competition; he loved to bowl, play cards and spend time at the casino. He also loved music and to sing karaoke, he often sang along to artists such as Journey and The Outfield. An essential part of his day was always a walk with his sweet little dog, Frisky. He could always be found with a Coke in his hand.

His memory will forever be present in the lives he touched, as he was a beloved father and grandfather who loved his family dearly and always gave everything he had.

Donald is survived by his sons, Donald Kapp, Jr. (Anna) and their children, Evan and Ellie; and Andrew Kapp (Andrea) and their children, Drew, Karlie and Johnny; Brothers, Ronald (Cecelia) Kapp and Richard Kapp; Sisters, Cindy (Rick) Diaz, Tina (Ralph) Worthing, Virgie Wolfgang, Sue (Jim) Kruske, and Sandra Kapp. The self-proclaimed "Favorite Uncle" will be deeply missed by all his beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his beloved Parents, Adolph Kapp and Mary Lucy Kapp; His Sister, Victoria Lumbreras and his Brother, Adolph Kapp, Jr.

Burial will take place on Friday, August 1, 2025, at 12:00 noon, at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Saginaw, Michigan.
