Our loving husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Covenant HealthCare – Harrison. He was 85 years old. Danny Ralph Young was born on August 21, 1939, to Raymond R. and Mavis J. (Rushing) Young in Whitton, Arkansas. Danny was raised in Arkansas and came to Michigan in his early teens. Danny graduated from Central High School in Flint. Following graduation, he enlisted and served with the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1965. He returned to Flint and met the love of his life, Mary Lou Dowd, while working at Hamady Brothers Grocery Store. They were married on June 16, 1965, and have celebrated almost 60 years together. Dan spent many years working for Baird Financial in Saginaw, retiring in early 2000. He was a kind and gentle man, always caring for his family. Dan was a car enthusiast with a special love for Corvettes.
Dan is survived by his wife, Mary Lou; children: Tony (Julie) Young, Dana R. (Amanda) Young and David Young; two grandchildren; sister-in-law, Gayle Young; nephews and nieces: Terry (Wendy) Young, Donna Jo (Liam) Donohue, Kim (Theresa) Brown, Kurt (Twighla) Brown and Kandace (Gordon) Anderson; and many extended family and dear friends.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sandra (Jim) Brown; and brother, Thomas Young.
In keeping with Dan's wishes cremation has taken place. His family will celebrate his life privately.

Dear Mary Lou and sons, I have such happy memories of all the wonderful times our families spent together having fun. Don also loved Dan as one of his best friends. Dan was always so kind and caring— a genuinely good man. I give you my deepest condolences in your loss and may you find peace in remembering the good times with him.
