Obituary
Charles “Chuck” Alphic Cole, 72, of Deckerville, MI, went home to be with the Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 31, 2017. Chuck was preceded in passing by his parents, Wallace and Mabel (Rich) Cole, brothers, Lorne A. Davis, Phillip Melville Cole, and Floyd Cole, and a sister, Lenore Cole Eckert. Chuck was married to his wife of 50 years, Shirley (Wester) Cole. He served in the United States Marine Corps for 9 & 1/2 years. He was an Air Traffic Controller and served 2 tours in Vietnam before being honorably discharged in 1973. He continued serving in Air Traffic Control with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from McKendree College in 1977. He retired from the FAA in 2001 as a Regional Inspector. Chuck loved hunting and fishing (especially his trips to Alaska to do those things). He enjoyed woodworking, mowing and helping his neighbors. He was also very passionate about bringing our family members together and established a campground to support that dream. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, even helping build VFW Post #1811 in Louisville, KY. He was a member of Lake Area Bible Church in Melrose, FL. When in Michigan he attended East Marion Baptist Church in Deckerville, MI.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Shirley; daughters, Lori (Cole) Adrian of Brighton, MI; and Lisa (Cole) Heidrich and her husband Tim, of Deckerville, MI; grandsons, Ryan Cole and Michael Zimmerman of Mandan, North Dakota; sisters, Mary (Davis) Burgess of Deckerville, MI, Phyllis Shaw of Melrose, FL, JoAnn Roy of St. Augustine, FL, and Judith Darlington of Brighton, MI, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
It has been a difficult time of sorrow for our entire family and we sincerely appreciate everyone's continued prayers, kindness, words of sympathy and personal stories of Chuck. Thank you so very much. May we all join him some day with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. In Lieu of flowers, in honor and memory of Chuck, donations to the fund can be brought to the service or mailed to his surviving spouse, Shirley Cole. The funds will be used to carry on the family legacy, started by Wallace & Mabel Cole (his parents), of Oneness & Unity within the family, to make improvements at the campground.
From all of the family in the U.S.A and Canada.
