Obituary
Danelle A. Jones, age 64, of Saginaw, Michigan entered into enteral life, Wednesday October 3, 2018, in Saginaw, after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born on August 23, 1954, to Wilbert and Anita Ruohomaki in Ellendale, North Dakota. Danelle and her family then moved to Crystal Falls and Iron Mountain, Michigan where she was raised. Being a daughter of a Lutheran minister, Danelle's Lutheran faith was always present in her daily life.
Danelle graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and went on to obtain her Master's Degree from Saginaw Valley State University in Learning Disabilities. She was a special education teacher in the Sandusky School System and most recently the Saginaw Public School system, working at Salina and Herig Schools, before retiring in 2009.
Danelle married John B. Jones on July 31, 1982 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Saginaw Township. They were married for 24 years until his passing on July 28, 2006.
Danelle loved going to the casino, camping, taking boat cruises, playing scrabble, and any other games with family and friends. She also often enjoyed her quiet time reading books or listening to music. She was a huge sports fan, enjoying the Detroit Lions, Tigers, Pistons, Redwings, Green Bay Packers, and MSU Spartan games. Danelle had the privilege of having her own pool in her back yard; it was always a special time with family and friends “hanging by the pool”.
She is survived by her loving stepchildren, John Kenneth Jones, Michelle Jones, Mitchell Jones, and Kenyea Jones Zimmermann; sixteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; brothers, Dan Ruohomaki, Dean Ruohomaki, and Daryl Ruohomaki; nephews, Jeff Ruohomaki and Derrick Ruohomaki; nieces, Deidra Ruohomaki and Dayna Lacosse; her dear mother, Anita Ruohomaki; godson, Robert Perry Love; and her beloved friends, Pepa Carlson, Jane Gagnon, and Luther Mae Studivent.
Danelle was preceded in death by her husband, John B. Jones in 2006; her brother, David Ruohomaki; her father, Wilbert Ruohomaki, and her stepson Gerald Jones.
The family wishes to thank the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of Covenant Hospital, Harrison Campus 6th floor for the wonderful care they gave to Danelle.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 10, 2018, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 6:00 p.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan, 48602.
Burial will take place at 10:00a.m., Friday, October 19, 2918 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Saginaw.
