Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Ardis Tammen, formerly of Muskegon, MI, announce her passing on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at the age of 88. Born December 31, 1929, in Muskegon, MI, she is predeceased by her parents, Albert and Cornelia (Riekels) Flickema and her late husband, Arnold Tammen. She was also predeceased by her daughter, Diane St. John, grandchildren, Brian and Heather Snell, and sister Lois Zylestra.
Ardis is survived by two daughters, Susan (Robert) Sonntag, Saginaw, MI, Barbara Lundborg, Milan, MI and her brother, Paul (Kathy) Flickema, Muskegon, MI. Ardis loved nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Upon retirement, Ardis and her late husband moved to Muskegon, MI to be close to family and friends. Their passion was traveling within the United States and Michigan football games. She was a Muskegon Big Red alumnus and celebrated her 70th high school class reunion this past summer. Ardis loved assembling puzzles, reading, crossword puzzles, sewing and travel. Ardis moved to Saginaw, MI in the summer of 2017 to live near her daughter.
Ardis' family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and caregivers at Covenant Hospital and Health Center for their care and kindness during her chronic illnesses.
Honoring Ardis' wishes, cremation will take place and her ashes will be placed in the Memorial Garden at St. Gregory's Episcopal Church in Muskegon in the spring of 2019.
During her illness, Ardis received over 20 units of blood to combat anemia. In lieu of flowers or a memorial, please be a blood donor in her name.
