Obituary
Shirley Ellen Gnatkowski, age 80, of Prudenville, formerly of Saginaw, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019, due to injuries from an automobile accident.
The daughter of Shirley P. and Leanore A. (Kenny) Reimus, Shirley was born June 25, 1938 in Saginaw.
Shirley graduated from St. Andrew's High School and was a member of the St. Mary's Auxiliary and the League of Catholic Women. She worked and volunteered at St. Mary's of Michigan Hospital in Saginaw for over 50 years. She loved to travel and faith and family meant everything to her.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Harris; son, Brian “Red” Gnatkowski (Joni Mikolaiczik); daughter, Jill Adams; sister, Gail (Robert) Thomas; brothers, Michael (Patricia) Reimus and Gregory (Anita) Reimus; grandchildren, Isaac (Mary) Steffen, Melanie Steffen, Cole (Leslie) Harris, Kayla (Mitchell) Billbrough, Brittney Tedhams, Lindsey Castagnier, Hannah Fordyce, Jacqueline Gnatkowski, Luke Gnatkowski, Kevin (Carrie) Machcinski; great-grandchildren, Sydney, Isaac II, Taylor, Brett, Emma, Ian, Laila, Kendall, Baby Billbrough, Kylie, Madison, Nicholas, and Colin; many nieces and nephews and a very special puppy friend, Maggie. Shirley was preceded in death by her daughter, Dawn Steffen; son, Bruce Gnatkowski II; grandson, Brady Adams; and her parents.
Visitation will take place Monday, January 14, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Prayer Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602.
Visitation will continue Tuesday, January 15, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. at St. Andrew Catholic Church site of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, 612 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Fr. Ronald Wagner will officiate.
Interment will take place at a later date at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, Saginaw.
Memorials in honor of Shirley may be made to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, Post Office Box 1848, Longmont, CO 80502.
