Obituary
Gerald “Jerry” “Jake” Earl Mahar, age 85, of Burt, Michigan passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, June 12, 2019.
He was born on September 24, 1933, to Earl J. and Elizabeth (Koepke) Mahar in Albee, Michigan.
Jerry became a sheet metal apprentice in 1952 and retired from Bruno Martin Sheet Metal & Roofing in 1995. He was a member of the local Sheet Metal Union # 7, and a long time member of Faith Lutheran Church of Saginaw. The most important part of Jerry's life was spending time with his family and friends; he was often referred to as the Master Story Teller. He also enjoyed farming and copper crafts. He will be missed by many family and friends.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Barbara (nee Gaudreau) Mahar; children, Cheryl (the late Jim Kennedy) Kennedy, Jerry (Mandy) Mahar and Deb (Bob) Gersell; grandchildren, Julie (Adam) Gremli, James (Tiffany) Kennedy, Elizabeth Kennedy, Rebecca (Corey) Ronk, Jerry (Nicole) Mahar, Jenna Mahar, Lauren (Alex) Ososki, Justin (Lauren) Blazejewski, Justin Gersell, Jordan Gersell and Jenna Gersell; great-grandchildren, Carter and Xander Gremli, Nora Kennedy, Hunter and Carson Ronk, and Easton and Sloane Ososki; sister, Mary File; brothers and sisters in law, Dale (Karen) Gaudreau, Dave (Sue) Gaudreau, Eugene (Barb) Gaudreau and Tom (Sandy) Gaudreau.
Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward Mahar and John Mahar; and their parents.
Memorial Visitation will be held on June 22, 2019, from 10:00 a.m., until the time of Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m., at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48602. The Rev. Matthew Hauser will officiate.
