Obituary

Dora Flores Luna, age 93, of Saginaw, entered into eternal life on Tuesday, September 24, 2019, in Saginaw. The daughter of Marcial Flores Morales and Maria Elisa Garcia vda De Flores, Dora was born April 14, 1926, in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She married Miguel L. Luna on December 26, 1955. He preceded her in death on April 28, 1998.

When Mother was a young girl she worked for her brother's hardware store and she enjoyed doing ballet. Mother loved to read her bible, spiritual scriptures and praised Father Francis Solanus and La Virgin De Guadalupe. She was an involved member of St. Joseph church taking on active roles at the migrant clinic, Rondalla senior dance club, Isadora club, and volunteered for St. Joseph's Las Damas De Guadalupe. Dora was one of the founding members of the St. Joseph Rondalla Spanish choir and remained active for over 40 years. Dora was a member and volunteer for the American Legion Post 500, Knights of Columbus, La Unión Civica Mexicana, Grand Marshal at a Union Civica Cinco de Mayo Parade, American G.I. Forum, Bridgeport High School La Lus Del Sol club and was recess monitor for Hanlon School. She enjoyed being an active volunteer in the Hispanic community. Dora loved to dance ballet Folklorico traditional dances with our father and take yearly family trips to Mexico. She enjoyed writing letters to her many friends and family and was a great cook of Mexican traditional foods.

Dora is survived by her beloved children, Miguel A. “Mike” Luna, Rudolfo “Rudy” M. Luna, Joaquin E. “Jack” (Mary Kay) Luna, Jorge A. “George” (Patricia Duarte) Luna, Elisa D. “Nani” Luna, and Teresita D. “Chacha” Luna; dear grandchildren, Marissa, Raphael, and Rochelle Luna (fiancé Tommy Gray), Paul Peters (girlfriend Monica Barcenas), Michael A. Luna (fiancé Ashley Fotheringham), Ryan and Brandon Luna, and step grandchildren, Gabrielle Mynatt, Mitchell Mynatt, Gina Mynatt, and Richard Manuse; great grandchildren, Thomas and Charlie Gray, Kain Luna, Oliver Wilham and Elisia Peters.
Dora was preceded in death by her husband, Miguel L. Luna, her parents, her son in law, Larry Watson and her five siblings.

Visitation will take place on Friday, October 4, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Services, 504 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, MI 48602. Visitation will continue on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at St. Joseph Parish, 910 N. Sixth Ave., Saginaw, MI 48601, 9:00 a.m. until the funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. Frank Voris will officiate. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorials Gardens, 950 N. Center Rd. Saginaw, MI immediately following the mass.

My Condolences to Dora's family, I have know them since we we're very young, I meet her when she first moved back to Michigan many years ago and have known them every since. Prayers to you all. Rena Chapman
