Obituary
Sara E. Claus, age 49, of Saginaw, went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by family, on Saturday, October 12, 2019.
The daughter of Ken and Donna (nee Oppermann) Claus, Sara was born May 31, 1970, in Watertown, Wisconsin. That very day, Sara was baptized into her Christian faith. She was confirmed at Peace Lutheran Church in Saginaw in 1984 and was a long time member there. She graduated from Valley Lutheran High School in 1988 and then attended Delta College before eventually going on to work in respiratory therapy for many years, a job she was greatly passionate about. Sara was a traveling Respiratory Therapist and also worked at Covenant HealthCare. She also eventually worked for Morley Companies with Blue Cross Blue Shield Medicare Advantage. Fellow coworkers knew she enjoyed cooking and baking. Sara loved to help people in any and all ways possible, so she went beyond her career, participating in Habitat for Humanity's Women Build with her famous pink hammer. She loved rollerblading and biking the Rail Trail, crafts, and she had an affinity for creating jewelry. Though she was in a wheelchair for 8 years, Sara never let it define her. Sara will be remembered for her love of the Lord and her family.
Sara is survived by her loving parents, Ken and Donna Claus; her siblings, Lori Claus of Springfield, IL, Jim Claus of Sterling Heights, MI, and Brian (Crystal) Claus, of Freeland, MI; her nephews, Jacob, Joshua, and Caleb Claus, and Enoch Davis; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
Visitation will take place Thursday, October 17, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48602. Visitation will continue Friday, October 18, 2019, at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48602, from 10:00 a.m., until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Erik Schmidt will officiate. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, Saginaw.
Memorials in honor of Sara may be made to Peace Lutheran Church “Seeds to Branches”, care of the church, or to Valley Lutheran High School, 3560 McCarty Road, Saginaw, Michigan 48603.

Dear Friends,
My heart is breaking for you right now; how difficult to lose your Sweet Sara. Yet how she must be rejoicing as she can be with Jesus, free from pain and her many difficulties. May Jesus put His loving arms around each of you family members and hold you close, comforting you with the sure hope of eternal life. Sara was invited to the Great Party first; you all will have work to do yet until your Heavenly Father calls you home. I am praying with tears for your comfort and peace during this difficult time.
