Obituary

Betty Lou Zastrow, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, age 81, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 2, 2020, with family by her side. The daughter of the late Darcy and Corinne Savage, Betty was born December 29, 1938, in Bay City, Michigan.

She is survived by 3 daughters and 1 son, Diane Hickey (Rudy Rosalez), Tammy (John) Kilbourn, Donald Zastrow Jr. and Amy (Robert L.) Balderrama; 1 brother and 3 sisters, Ronald Savage, Fayetta Hughey, Patricia Katt, and Barbara (Louis) Timm; grandchildren, Bianca (Ryan) Moulds, Michaela McCready, Miranda McCready, Samantha Drielick, Jason (Marcy) Drielick, Alicyn Hickey, Jessica Zastrow, Tony Zastrow and James SanMiguel; 7 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kaylor, Judy Moore and Nancy Zastrow, brothers-in-law, Thomas Zastrow and Robert Zastrow.

Betty was predeceased by her husband, Donald Zastrow, daughter, Debra McCready, parents, Darcy and Corinne Savage, brothers, Robert and Darcy Savage, sisters, Ramona Hughey and Elaine Arsneau.

Betty was a member of New Heart United Methodist Church (formerly West Michigan Ave. United Methodist). She was active in the choir and food pantry program and leaves behind many friends. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and helping others. Her life motto was “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” She was loved by all whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be held Sunday, January 5, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602. Visitation will continue on Monday, January 6, 2020, at New Heart United Methodist Church, 1802 W. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will take place at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw.

Memorials in honor of Betty may be made to New Heart United Methodist Church Food Pantry, care of the church.
