Leewellyn “Lee” Clarence Fischer, age 82, of New Oxford, Pennsylvania, passed away on December 2, 2019, at Cross Keys Village, The Brethren Home Community.
Lee was born on May 23, 1937, to Clarence and Esther Fischer in Litchfield, Minnesota.
Lee earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota and eventually his PhD from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was proud of his 30-year career as a chemist with DuPont, where he specialized in Industrial Film and held several patents. He was a proud member of the First Unitarian Church of Baltimore. He was also active in the Prime Timers Group. Lee loved traveling, gardening, bee keeping, and had a lifelong love of and appreciation for learning. He had a unique talent for creating beautiful stained-glass art and a keen eye for photography.
He is survived by his children, Janis (Rick) Groomes of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and Paul (Karen) Fischer of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Katie Mae Groomes (Seth Green), Sofia Fischer, Eleanor Fischer, and Sam Fischer; great-granddaughter, Amie Mae Green; former wife, Joy (Sebastian) Petix; sister, Leetha (Phil) Waldron: brother, Leon (Michelle) Fischer; sister-in-law, Lorie Fischer Kruse; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Esther Fischer, and his brother, Leland Fischer.
