Obituary
Eileen Marie Hynes Kilbourn, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, age 95, peacefully joined the Lord on February 15, 2020, at St. Francis Home in Saginaw, Michigan.
She is survived by 1 daughter and 4 sons, Carolyn (Michael) Manini, Patrick Kilbourn, Kevin (Linda) Kilbourn, John (Tammy) Kilbourn, and Roger (Carolina) Kilbourn of Burlington, VT. Surviving siblings, who affectionately called her Dean, are Therese (Nelson) Prast, Donald (Muriel) Hynes, and Robert (Joanne) Hynes. Eileen also left 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
The daughter of the late William and Marie Hynes, Eileen was born on August 7, 1924. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Charles Kilbourn, in 2006; daughter, Peggy Kilbourn Lee, in 2002; sister, Margie Hynes Skeltis; and brothers, Rupert (who many knew as Bud) and Gerald Hynes.
Eileen was a member of Saint Dominic Parish (SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church). She was a strong advocate of Right-to-Life. She was a member of the Ladies Altar Society, Read Program, Food Pantry and was known for her “funeral cakes.”
Eileen was a gardener who also enjoyed reading, walking, doing puzzles and had a great love of singing. She was a highly motivated woman with many talents. She was, as those who knew her would agree, a true “force of nature.” She had a flair for interior design and had a house built in a time when few women would have ventured to do so. She continued to live in her home for more than 40 years and only recently moved into a retirement community.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., at St. Dominic Parish – SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church Site, 4735 W. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48638. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate with Rev. Fr. Jack Johnson concelebrating. Entombment will take place at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, Saginaw.
