Cynthia Diane Grigg
January 21, 1941 - March 24, 2020
Obituary
Cynthia Diane Grigg, 79, of Saginaw, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 24, 2020, surrounded by those that loved her the most. Diane, born January 21, 1941 in Livonia, Michigan was the daughter of H. Norman and Barbara Fitter. On August 24, 1963, Diane married the love of her life, A. Edwards “Ted” Grigg DDS. After graduating from Detroit Cooley High School, Diane earned a bachelor's degree from Hillsdale College. Diane's love for learning led her to attain a master's degree from Wayne State University and a Specialist degree in Educational Administration with LD Certification from Central Michigan University. Over the years, Diane was employed by the Livonia Public Schools and later retired from teaching for the Saginaw Public Schools. She served numerous leadership positions with the Saginaw Area Reading Council, Saginaw Junior League, Heritage High School Academic Boosters, and the Vestry at St. John's Episcopal Church. She was instrumental in avidly petitioning the Saginaw School Board to institute the Young Five's Program for the Saginaw Public Schools. After retirement from teaching, she joined forces to assist with her husband‘s dental practice. Diane was blessed to have many lifelong friends with whom she and her family share wonderful lasting memories. Diane enjoyed time at the lake, travel with friends, reading, shopping (for bargains), and volunteering, but her greatest joy and proudest achievement in life was her family. She cherished every milestone accomplished by her children and grandchildren.
Diane is survived by her husband, Dr. A.E. “Ted” Grigg: their children, Dr. Ted (Michele) Grigg, Jennifer (Jon) Wood, and Matthew Grigg (Lisa Wortman); grandchildren, Drew, Hunter, Jacob, and Bregan Grigg, Jonathan and Jayda Wood, and a new Grigg grandchild due in September 2020; her sister, Nancy Graham and sister-in-law, Barbara Biron; nieces and nephews, Sara Ryan, Kath Biron, Kim and Ken Graham. She was preceded in death by both her parents.
Out of concern for the health and well-being of those family and friends who wish to pay their respects and celebrate a life well-lived, the family plans to hold a memorial service at a later date at St. John's Episcopal Church, 123 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48602.
The family would like to thank the many healthcare providers and Wellspring Hospice for their steadfast dedication and loving care during her long battle. In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Diane may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church or to National Jewish Health, Post Office Box 17169, Denver, CO 80217.
