Bonnie Ione Griffore, age 95, of Saginaw, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at home surrounded by loved ones. Bonnie was born February 9, 1925 in Midland, Michigan to parents Emmanuel and Ivah Slabaugh.
In her earlier years, Bonnie enjoyed vacationing and taking golf trips with dear friends and traveling with her beloved husband John of 47 years, who was a professional baseball player. He passed away on October 8, 1994 and she missed him dearly. She loved crafts, collecting antiques, and golfing. As her family grew, Bonnie found pride and joy being called “Gram” by her grandchildren and then “GG” by her great-grandchildren. She always looked forward to attending mass and bible study on Sunday followed by breakfast at Fuzzy's with close friends. Bonnie's surprise 95th birthday party on February 9, 2020 was one of the most memorable moments in her life, celebrated by her entire family.
Bonnie is survived by her loving children, Delone (John) Howley, John “Jack” (Connie) Griffore II, Mark (Amy Hamp) Griffore, and Gary Griffore; grandchildren, Kristen (Matt) Schneider, Scott Howley, Megan (Bryce) Sobol, Lindsey (Mirko) Renier, Brandon (Nicole) Griffore, Stephanie (Marc) St. John, Jessica (Cody) Kleppert, Jacob (Sarah) Griffore, and Alyssa (Brock) LaVergne; great grandchildren, Hudson Schneider, Sailor Schneider, Guenevere Howley, Oliver Howley, Maeva Sobol, Izabel Sobol, Luna Renier, Leo Renier, Tiara Wolverton, Ava Ryder, Madeline Griffore, Sophia Anger, Layla Kleppert, Ella Griffore, and Rhett LaVergne. She is also survived by sister-in-law Joan Slabaugh and her beloved friends Kay Decker, Pat Rushlow, and Lorraine Hart.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Griffore; her siblings, Catherine Jackson and Vernon Dale Slabaugh; and her parents.
A private funeral mass will take place at the St. Stephen site of St. Dominic Parish. Burial will take place at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, Saginaw.
Memorials in honor of Bonnie may be made to St. Dominic Catholic Parish 2711 Mackinaw St. Saginaw, MI 48602.
