Obituary
Jalen Daniel Rivera, age 19, of Spaulding Township, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 11, 2020. The son of Aurora Garza and Joseph Cavazos, Jalen was born on February 13, 2001. He was deeply loved and will forever be with us all, in heart and memory.
Devoted son, brother and uncle. Jalen was always smiling, happy, and full of love. He loved playing with his nieces and visiting with family. He was a dedicated creative writer–keeping journals, writing stories and poems since his early childhood.
Jalen is survived by his parents, Aurora (Agapito) Garza and Joseph Cavazos; siblings, Elicia “Cherie” Rivera (Dave), Christopher Rivera (Noemi), Jose Bernal (Isabel), Jason (Rebecca) Rivera, Joseph Cavazos Jr. (Carrie) and Jacob Cavazos; nieces and nephews, Emiliano Rivera, Yesenia Bernal, Julliana Bernal, Xiemena Bernal, and Jose Bernal; maternal grandmother, Tina Rivera; paternal grandmother, Nana Juanita Cavazos; many close friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Jalen was preceded in death by his grandfathers Nahum Rivera and Fred Hatter; and his great-grandparents, Jose and Isabel Garza.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, November 21, 2020, from 12:00 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. at Cornerstone Christian Center, 6674 Junction Road, Bridgeport, Michigan 48722. In accordance with current state mandated restrictions, safe distancing and limitations on number gathered within the building will be observed. A mask or facial covering must also be worn while inside the building.
Private Burial will take place at Spaulding Township Cemetery.
