Obituary
Milton “Milt” Lee Schmidt, age 91, of Saginaw, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 9, 2020. The son of Alexander and Alma (Wagner) Schmidt, Milton was born on November 5, 1929, in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Colleen Dirker on June 27, 1953.
Milton served in the United States Army and was a proud veteran. He worked as a meat cutter at several grocery stores throughout his career. In his retirement, Milton traveled with Sunshine Seniors, became a mall walker, and continued to enjoy his lifelong love of sports. He especially loved football, baseball, and hockey, and was a season ticket holder for the Saginaw Gears through the Saginaw Spirit. Milton was also a faithful, longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church.
Milton is survived by his beloved wife, Colleen Schmidt; his loving daughters, Sue Schmidt, Nancy Schmidt, and Sharon Schmidt; siblings, Edwin (Joyce) Schmidt, Larry (Margie) Schmidt, and Gary Schmidt; sisters-in-law, Myrtle Schmidt, Carolyn Dirker, and Debbie Dirker; many nieces and nephews. Milton was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander and Alma Schmidt; siblings, Robert Schmidt and Lois Kleekamp; brothers and sister-in-law, William Kleekamp, Vicky Schmidt, Eugene Dirker, and Wallace Dirker.
Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, from 10:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m., at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602. Vicar Henry Pahlkotter will officiate. In accordance with current state mandated restrictions, safe distancing and limitations on number gathered within the building will be observed. Attendees are also kindly asked to wear a mask or other facial covering while inside the funeral home, per state requirements.
Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Saginaw.
Memorials in honor of Milton may be made to Peace Lutheran Church (General Fund), 3427 Adams Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602, or to the charity of your choice.
