Obituary
Jean Ann Diechman, age 89, of Saginaw, passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020, with her husband by her side. The daughter of Leo and Delphine (Bartkowiak) Wachowicz, Jean was born September 5, 1931, in Bay City, Michigan. She married Louis Diechman on August 8, 1953.
Jean had many hobbies in life. She was a fantastic bowler, a trait that ran in her family. She was a true artist who enjoyed cross stitch and ceramics. Jean also loved reading, going to the casino, and was an avid bingo player who enjoyed the game 5 to 6 nights per week at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Jean was a seasoned traveler who visited every state in the U.S. aside from Alaska. She also enjoyed trips to Europe, the Mediterranean, and wintered in Florida. The most important part of Jean's life was her family. She cherished every moment spent with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jean is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Louis Diechman; loving daughter, Deborah Plyler; dear grandchildren, Chad (Kim) Metiva and Nathaniel (Ashley) Plyler; adored great grandchildren, Cameron Metiva, Annalisa Metiva, Braedon Metiva, and Owen Metiva; and her brother, Dave Wachowicz; niece Lynn Kubiak; and nephews, Gary, Mark, Alan and Eric Wachowicz. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Bernice Wachowicz.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 10, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish – St. Helen Catholic Church Site, 2445 N. Charles St., Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Fr. Bill Rutkowski will officiate. In accordance with current state mandated restrictions, safe distancing and limitations on number gathered within the building will be observed. A mask or facial covering must also be worn while inside the building. Entombment will take place at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, 7475 S. Holland Road Saginaw, MI.
Memorials in honor of Jean may be made to Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, care of the church.
