Adeline Heilbronn
April 17, 1924 - March 31, 2021
Obituary
Adeline “Addie” Mary Heilbronn, beloved mother, grams, and great grams, of Saginaw, went home to be with the Lord on March 31, 2021, at the age of 96. The daughter of Martha (Beyersdorf) and Otto Thom, Addie was born on April 17, 1924, in Hemlock, Michigan. She married Howard Heilbronn on May 11, 1943 and they enjoyed 77 wonderful years together. Howard preceded her in death in June of 2020.
Addie attended Holy Cross Lutheran School, where she was also confirmed and later sang in the adult choir. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1942 and enjoyed lifelong friendships with her fellow “42-ers”. Addie worked for Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator in Michigan and then in New York while her husband, Hop, was stationed in Sheepshead Bay serving in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Upon their move back to Saginaw, she worked as a Medical Librarian with St. Luke's Hospital. Addie was a person of faith and was a longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, served with the social ministry, and was a prayer partner for confirmands. She was a former member of the Germania Towne and Country Club and Saginaw County Republican Women. She received the Republican Women's Tribute of the Year Award in 2005. She was an active member of the Saginaw Branch of Woman's National Farm & Garden Association until her death. Addie enjoyed extensive travel in her life, but especially loved time spent in Germany, Florida, Oregon, and the Stratford Festival in Stratford, Canada, where she introduced all of her grandchildren to the joys of theatre. She was an excellent cook (which she enjoyed doing even more with a Bloody Mary in hand), baker, gardener, seamstress, and quilter. Time spent with family was undoubtedly her greatest joy in life. Addie will be dearly missed, but her legacy of kindness, positivity, and love remains.
Adeline is survived by her beloved children, Michael (Sheilah) Heilbronn, Barbara Heilbronn, and Gregory (Jean) Heilbronn; loving grandchildren, Christopher (Janine) Heilbronn, Elizabeth (Jon Oelke) Heilbronn, Matthew (JoAnne West) Heilbronn, and Andrea (Mark) Fischer; adored great-grandchildren, Laurel Adeline, Eleanor, Lake, James, Gwyneth, Emmett, and Margaret; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Heilbronn; her parents; and her siblings, Violet Smiley Sullivan, Betty Ruth Voss, and Alvin Thom.
Visitation will take place on Monday, April 12, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602. We so loved Addie in the Peace church office. She always came in with a smile and lit up the room. She was in charge of the Peace CAPS group so I had the opportunity to see her often. What a blessing she was to our church. Her entire family is dedicated and so loyal to Peace Church and School. Her kids went to school with myself and my siblings; her grandkids went to school with my kids. Love that family.
We will surely miss you Addie. Much love to the Heilbronns.

Addie was such a wonderful encouraging person. She always took interest in what was going on with our youth group. All through the years of knowing her, I was always amazed at her positive outlook and beautiful smile. She will leave an impact on so many people. God bless all you wonderful family members. You're amazing as well.
In Christ,

I am thankful and blessed to have growth up very close to Aunt Ad, Uncle Hop and Aunt Maude. I will cherish the fond memories of being able to easily visit them before and after we played in "the field" in every season.

Barbie, Greg and the Heilbronn Family. Our condolences to all of you. What a joy to have known this lovely lady. She was my tutor in the Peace Choir and we so enjoyed singing the Hallelujah Chorus on Easter morning! She will sing it now with the Heavenly Angels. She will be missed. God Bless you all.
