Obituary
Elda “Jean” Samuels, age 87, of Saginaw, passed away at home with her family by her side on Wednesday, March 31, 2021. The daughter of Harold and Alice Hodgins, Jean was born in Saginaw on September 17, 1933.
Jean married Earl Samuels on July 19, 1952, they celebrated 48 years together until his passing on May 3, 2001.
Jean loved to read books and enjoyed crossword puzzles. Throughout the years, Jean loved watching Perry Mason on her television. She also spent a great deal of time watching the birds in her backyard. Jean retired from Saginaw General Hospital after many years of working as a data processor.
Jean is survived by her loving children, Jeannie Revard, Connie (Jim) Bonkowski, Pam (Jim) Pavlo, and Laurie (Kevin) Revard; many beloved grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Samuels; their sons, Earl “Butch” Samuels and Harold (Anne) Samuels; and her siblings, Chuck Hodgins, Mancil Hodgins, Joyce Hodgins, and Nancy Smith.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 1, 2021, from 11:00 a.m., until the time of service at 2:00 p.m., at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48602, Chaplain Randall with Heartland Hospice will officiate. In accordance with current state mandated restrictions, safe distancing and limitations of 25 people gathered within the building will be observed. Attendees are also kindly asked to wear a mask or other facial covering while inside the funeral home, per state requirements.
