Harold Hall
January 07, 1930 - August 05, 2025
Obituary
Harold Walker Hall, age 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Brookdale Assisted Living in Saginaw, Michigan surrounded by family.
Harold was born in Blasdell, New York, on January 7, 1930, to Lawrence and Leah (Walker) Hall. In 1944 his family moved to Petoskey Michigan, where he met and married the love of his life Gerrie Malloy on February 10, 1951. Together, they moved to New Jersey where he enlisted in the United States Navy during the Korean War where he became a cook. Eventually they settled in Saginaw, Michigan. Together they raised five wonderful children, who continued to carry on their legacy.
Harold had a passion for storytelling and often shared memories of his hockey and softball days—his “glory days.” He was a baker who owned Sheridan Plaza Bakery in Saginaw. Where he became known as the master of cakes and all things baked. A lifelong tinkerer, Harold also had a deep love for Model T Fords, building and rebuilding many of them over the years.
Known for his quick wit and sharp sense of humor, Harold always had a joke at the ready and a clever comeback for just about anything. His laughter and light-heartedness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Harold is lovingly remembered by his five children: Maureen Hall, Michele McCready, Marilyn Reichenbach, Michael (Janie) Hall, and Matthew (Laura) Hall; his cherished grandchildren: Nathan (Virginia), Bethany (Chris), Richard III (Trista), Erik (Dana), Kurt (Alisha), Alexandria (Sean), and Dylan; as well as several great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Roberta (Stanley) Kapusto; many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends in Michigan and Arizona.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate teams at Brookdale Assisted Living and Transitions Hospice Care for their exceptional care and kindness shown to Harold in his final days.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Gerrie; his parents, Lawrence and Leah; his brothers, Robert and George; and his sister, Phyllis McGinnis.
He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A gathering will take place Saturday, August 9, 2025, from 11:00am to 2:00pm at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, MI 48602. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens, 7475 E. Holland Rd., Saginaw, MI 48601. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the American Legion Post 22.

Harold was one of the best neighbors that I've ever had. I sure enjoyed his stories, especially learning the quirks and trials of a Model T. Dean B

Dear Hall family,
“Harold Hall” my dad and mom always said Harold Hall, not just Harold. And we didn’t know any other Harold’s. Guess because he was one of a kind. Your dad was a character, a fun guy even though his jokes were bad and often not on the woke side. I remember visiting your house with the aquariums and also Harold Hall being a good friend, especially to my mother after both my dad and Gerrie “Hall” passed.

My sympathies to the entire Hall family. I have lived next door to Harold for over 12 years and he is missed. We had a lot of good neighborly times. Herschel.

Maureen, Shelly, Marilyn, Mike and Matt and families: Your dad was definitely a favorite among my parents' friends. He always seemed happy, loved to tell stories and joke. I remember him letting me help at the bakery, and watching him work on his many projects and hobbies that he proudly presented. He was a man of many talents! My condolences to you all on the loss of Harold.

The 3900 block of N Colorado Ave will never be the same without Harold bringing us all together. His story telling and famous jokes were were legendary. His home made cinnamon rolls and pies were top notch. Witnessing his joy as he mastered making wooden parts for his Model T's brought much pleasure to us.
He was always helpful with his woodworking skills. We have several light fixtures he made. We still use a small folding table he made for us.
The morning kitchen table chats with him was usually the high point of Harold's day. Entertaining too the max.
One thing about Harold that really stood out that when there was a neighborhood get together he'd always end up sitting with the girls. We called him the "chick magnent of Colorado Avenue.
Harold, you will be missed. Our friend, may you rest in peace.
