Gregory Jarvis

Obituary

Gregory Allen Jarvis, age 57, of Caseville, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly while tending to his boat during a storm on Monday, September 20, 2021, and was found Friday, September 24, 2021. The son of Ross and Mildred (Gemmecke) Jarvis, Gregory was born in Ferndale, Michigan, May 22, 1964.

Greg was a hard-working man that did many jobs throughout his life. While working on a farm he hauled sugar beets and tended herds of cattle, and he attempted with success all types of construction projects. Winter up north gave him the opportunity to make friends through helping winterize vacation homes and pull docks out of the water before cold weather. He loved being counted on as he helped others. His many friends were like family to him. He loved fishing and a good fish fry with friends. A week prior to Greg's death, he was lucky to win a Club Keno jackpot and he was in the process of claiming his earnings. His family and friends were elated by his good fortune and Greg felt the same…just to get the winning ticket was enough for him.

Gregory is survived by his father, Ross Jarvis, and his siblings, Lynette (George) Matijow, Stanley (Sandra) Jarvis, and Donna (Philip) Prince; nieces and nephews, Holly (Rich) Sawin, Joseph(Melanie) Matijow, Craig (Aaron) Matijow, Jessica Matijow, Timothy Matijow, Amber Jarvis, Ashley Prince and Zachary Prince; great nieces and nephews, Ryan, Eric, Lauren, Hailey, Nicole, Andrew, Marion and Ethan.

He was preceded in death by his mother. A memorial service to spread his ashes will be at a date yet to be determined.

His family wants to thank the many friends that have reached out with much love to us and beautiful memories they have shared of Gregory and what he meant to them. Thank you for your kindness. It has brought us comfort and peace.

I remember this one time when he was snowmobiling on the ice and then he wasn’t. Gregs sled went through the ice and the tow truck driver had to fish it out just to get the cable on it. I also remember all the good times my dad and Gregor would go to nascar every year. Thats all they talked about until it was over. I miss the good ole days.
