Obituary
Robert “Bob” John Stanek, age 89, of Saginaw, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at his home. The son of Victoria (Rysiewicz) and Stanley Stanek, Robert was born on November 2, 1931, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He married Phyllis Carlson on September 15, 1956.
Bob was an Industrial Engineer, working with Baker Perkins until his retirement in 1987. He served his country in the United States Air Force. Bob was a longtime parishioner of Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, volunteering as an usher starting in 1963, and eventually getting involved in the Saturday Bible group. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Hall 4232 and enjoyed helping with several activities. Bob also loved bowling, golfing, and traveling with his wife, Phyllis.
Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Phyllis Stanek; loving children, Karen (Jeffrey) Ziebart and Christy (Manny) Barriger; adored grandchildren, Rebecca (Ben) Hanson, Michelle Ziebart, and Madison Barriger; dear great-grandchildren, Max and Mackenzie Hanson; and his brother, Richard (Judy) Stanek. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Brian Stanek; and his brother, Stanley Stanek.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 4, 2021, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m, with the rosary prayed at 10:30 a.m., at Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, St. Helen Catholic Church Site, 2445 N. Charles St., Saginaw, MI 48602. Bob will go home to be buried next to his son, Brian, at Norway Township Cemetery, Norway, MI.
Memorials in honor of Bob may be made to Christ the Good Shepherd Parish, care of the church, or to Compassus Living Foundation (Compassus Hospice), 503 N. Euclid Ave., Suite 9E, Bay City, MI 48706.
