Lisa McInerney-Schaupp

Lisa Marie McInerney-Schaupp, age 52, of Easley, South Carolina, formerly of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021, after a courageous 14-year battle with cancer.

The daughter of Thomas and Dolores (Meier) McInerney, Lisa was born on August 23, 1969, in Saginaw, Michigan, where she was also raised. She was a 1987 graduate of Nouvel Catholic Central High School and went on to attend Western Michigan University, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Special Education. Lisa taught in Virginia, West Virginia, Bridgeport, Michigan, and most recently, South Carolina for the last 19 years. She was a passionate and dedicated educator and colleague. She was the best advocate for her students and was well respected by her peers. In her years teaching, she touched many lives and received many accolades, including “Teacher of the Year.” She had many talents, including ceramics, theater, and singing. She sang in her sisters' weddings and even her own. Lisa married Gregory Schaupp on July 20, 2001, and together they had a daughter, Anna Louise, on November 9, 2005. Lisa was a dedicated, loving, and selfless mother and Anna's #1 loyal softball fan. Lisa was an amazing friend to many, tender hearted, kind, thoughtful, and had the most unforgettable and contagious laugh.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Gregory Schaupp; her adored daughter, Anna Schaupp; her parents, Thomas and Dolores McInerney; her siblings, Lynn (Brian) Ferguson, Debra (Jeff) Stevenson, Teri (Chris) Jarema, and James (Phyllis) McInerney; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; many special friends in South Carolina, including Nena, Autumn, Stephanie, Carol, Terra, and Natalie, just to mention a few. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edward and Violet Meier, and Mary McInerney.

A Memorial Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. until the time of Celebration of Life at 6:00 p.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan 48602. Masks are required at all times inside the funeral home, per the family's request. Lisa's family would love for guests to wear purple, which was her favorite color.
