Obituary

Joseph “Joe” Jesus Rodriguez, age 73, of Saginaw, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022. The son of Ramiro and Esther (Gutierrez) Rodriguez, Joseph was born September 27, 1948, in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Darlene Douglas and they shared 17 years of marriage together.

Joe worked for 39 years as a skilled trade millwright with General Motors. He loved golfing, bowling, and fishing, and was a fan of the Michigan Wolverines. He especially enjoyed his trips to Las Vegas and to MGM in Detroit on Sundays. The most important thing in Joe's life was his family, especially his grandchildren. He cherished time spent with them and enjoyed taking them on vacations every year.

Joe is survived by his loving children, Tennie (Douglas) Lovely, Christine Rodriguez, and Joe A. Rodriguez; grandchildren, Meggan Schroeder, Kaitlynn Lovely, Joshua Lovely, Thomas Rodriguez, Amber Johnson, Bryana Letson, Mya Bringer, Joseph Anthony Rodriguez II, Alexander Michael Rodriguez, and Tallin Jay Ziehm; great-grandchildren, Ameaha Kendall, Darlene Kendall, Nathan Parks, Alijah Lovely, Aleigha Castanon, Kyleigh Lovely, Thomas Rodriguez, Jr., Demetris Gutierrez, Emiliano Gutierrez, Salena Gutierrez, Celastina Haymon, Ambriella Haymon, and Audriella Tyson; siblings, Mary Gomez, Anna (Mitch) Fauver, Michael (Corey) Rodriguez, and Marion Rodriguez. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Rodriguez in 2002; granddaughter, Emily Lovely; parents, Ramiro and Esther Rodriguez; siblings, Vicky Rodriguez and Robert Gutierrez; foster parents, Fred and Mary Ferguson; and foster sister, Ruth Mohowitsch.

Visitation will take place Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, MI 48602. Visitation will continue Friday, April 22, 2022 at the Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption, 615 Hoyt Ave., Saginaw, MI 48607, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Fr. Prentice Tipton will officiate. Burial will take place at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Saginaw.
