Obituary
James “Jim” Earl Miller, age 55, of Saginaw, won his 6-year battle with cancer on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, and is now in heaven. The son of Robert and Lois (Watters) Miller, Jim was born on November 2, 1966, in Saginaw, Michigan. He married the love of his life, Lorraine Hare, on June 29, 2007, and they shared 18 years together.
Jim worked for over 32 years as a Custodian with the Saginaw Public Schools. He thought of the staff and children at Handley School as his extended family. He received many cards and well wishes from the students asking Mr. Jim to come back. He treasured them. Jim loved music, a good barbeque, and lived for gatherings with his family and grandkids, who called him, “Pop.” He will always be missed by those who loved him.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lorraine Miller; children, Erika (Corbin) Killam and Jacob (Emily Roth) Hare; grandchildren, Vada Simone Killam and Eliza Jade Killam; sister, Debbie (Donn) Mammel. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bob Miller.

Jim was my brother in law and loved music,
A ice cold beer and standing at the grill,
Smoker or kitchen counter yielding his utensils and cooking up some fine fixings!
He took great pride in his job at Handley school and loved the staff and children!
Jim was at his pinnacle in recent years with everything coming together with the love of his life, her children and their grandchildren!
Some of the best smoked salmon I ever had was from Jim’s smoker! You’ll be missed my man!
Thanks for the memories

6:30 AM Jim always had a "Good Morning, Mrs O." Mornings haven't been the same without him. Keeping you and your family in my prayers.

I had the pleasure of working with Jim for many years at Handley. For the last six years, we were “neighbors” as my classroom was directly across the hall from the custodian room. Jim was the first to arrive each day and open the building. I liked to get there early and Jim was there to greet me each day. We would have a quick exchange and get our day rolling. What Jim talked about most was family, Lorraine and the kids, and a lot about Veda. He was crazy about the grandkids! He lit up talking about them. Because Jim was our friendly neighbor in kindergarten, he was often asked by students for help with something in the hallway, or drawn into a conversation, reaching into the tops of lockers for lost items, tied shoes, and even used the kindergarten wave (just a small wave with the pointer finger because kindergarteners are small) when we met in the hallway. Jim was the hero that saved the day for many in kindergarten and they held him in high regard. I know that on those days that he was not feeling so good he did enjoy kind words and encouragement from our kiddos. They could get a smile or a laugh from him and brighten his day. Jim was a kind and gentle man, he had a great sense of humor and will likewise be remembered for making a positive impression on his kindergarten neighbors over the years.
Rest in peace my friend, you will be missed!
