Obituary
Jose “Joe” Zamora, age 76, of Saginaw, passed away peacefully at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw, Friday July 15, 2022 surrounded by his family.
He was born in Uvalde, Texas to the late Hortencia and Jose Zamora, moving to Pigeon, Michigan where he attended school and graduated. He then he joined the United States Marine Corps serving two tours in Vietnam, returning home October 1968 to Saginaw, Michigan. Joe then was employed as a machinist for many years until he moved to Au Gres, Michigan and became a custodian for the county. Since retirement Joe was an avid fisherman and hunter who taught his nephews to enjoy the outdoors; especially the skill of fishing. He enjoyed taking his nephews to car and horse races.
He is survived by his two brothers, Anthony Zamora and Robert Zamora; nieces and nephews, Belinda Neitzelt, William Zamora, Patrick Goldman, Autumn Zamora, Holly Zamaora, Robert Zamora, Isaac Zamora, Monica Zamora, Esalina Zamora and a host of great nephews and nieces.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Jose Zamora of Uvalde and his mother, Hortencia Zamora of Saginaw; sister, Juanita “Jane” Neitzelt of Saginaw, and nephew, Richard Eimers of Saginaw, and a niece Viela Gallagher of Ann Arbor.
Visitation will take place Sunday, July 31, 2022, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with a funeral service held at 6:00p.m., at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602.
The visitation will continue Monday, August 1, 2022, 11:00 a.m. until 12:00p.m. at the funeral home where a procession will form for a burial at 1:00p.m., at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, Michigan 48442, where military honors will be conducted.
