Obituary
Joann Loretta Wood, age 86, of Saginaw, passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022. The daughter of Albert and Angelique (Bernier) Emond, Joann was born September 11, 1936, in Detroit, Michigan.
Joann was the consummate sportswoman. She was on the swim team and played field hockey in high school. She enjoyed sporting activities throughout her life, including downhill skiing, softball, basketball, and golf. In her later years, she became an avid walker and made many friends along the way. She also took up playing the hammer dulcimer. Joann's husband, Jones, was a skilled woodworker and she became active in this hobby by painting various carvings. As a team, they created beautiful works of art.
Joann is survived by her children, Mike (Melissa) Radtke, Doug (Molly) Radtke, Renee (Terry) Sullivan, Jenny (David) Kuritar, Rob (Karen) Wood, Rita (Ron) Eckhout, Gary Dean Blevins, and Bennett (Janet) Wood; 21 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard H. Radtke; her second husband, Jones Wood; her siblings, Therese Greene, Rita Collins, and Robert Emond; and her parents.
Visitation will take place on Saturday, November 12, 2022, from 2:00 p.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602. Pastor Douglas Jackson will officiate. Burial will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
