William “Bill” Eugene Gawne, age 73, of Vanceburg, Kentucky, formerly of Vassar, Michigan, and the Upper Peninsula, passed away on Friday, November 18, 2022, at Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center in Saginaw, Michigan. The son of William Thomas and Betty Jean (Craig) Gawne, Bill was born on October 22, 1949, in Saginaw, Michigan.
Bill was a loyal employee of General Motors and the UAW for over 30 years. He ended his career there as the Shop Committeeman. In 2004, he received the Walter Ruther Award. Bill was also a firearms dealer and enthusiast. He was a deputy for Genesee and Chippewa Counties. After living many years in Vassar and the Upper Peninsula, Bill finally found his dream home in Northern Kentucky and loved his time there. Bill lived an adventurous life, during which he embraced the speed and fun of snowmobile and go-kart racing. He was an avid hunter and was happiest when fishing on the Saginaw Bay.
Bill is survived by his son, William Thomas John “T.J.” Gawne; grandchildren, Garrett and Taylor Gawne; siblings, Richard (Penny) Gawne, Cheryl (Rick) Olsen, and Brian Gawne; one niece, five nephews, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are planned for Bill at this time.

I knew Bills dad from the horseshoe club in Millington. Bill played in it also. His dad worked with my dad at Buick. I remember his dad repaired my dad's 56 Chevy after a traffic accident. It's sad Buick in Flint is gone, so many times both in the factory and out. RIP Bill, you were one of the good ones.
