Obituary
Karen Ann Raths, age 83, of Saginaw, passed away with family by her side on Monday, March 13, 2023, at Wellspring Senior Living. The daughter of John and Marguerite (Doyle) McIntyre, Karen was born June 21, 1939, in Saginaw, Michigan.
Karen had many hobbies and talents in life. She was a Master Gardener and loved to knit and crochet, at one point sewing over 100 dresses for a community in Africa. An avid musician, Karen taught piano and played the organ for nearly her entire life, playing for several Catholic churches over the years. She was a devout Catholic who treasured her faith. Karen was also involved in many organizations and activities, including the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption Restoration Project and the Temple Theatre Guild, assisting with the organ restoration project at the theatre. Karen had a very rare blood type which prompted her to donate over 11 gallons of blood in her lifetime, which was frequently given to the neonatal units.
Karen is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Charles Raths; children, Margaret Warren, Mary Barry, Linda (Herb) Grimshaw, John (Diane) Raths, and Peter Raths; grandchildren, Lindsey Warren, Marissa Warren, Matthew Barry (fiancée, Heather), Peter (Kate) Barry, Cleo Barry, Isaac Grimshaw, John “JJ” Raths, and Maggie Raths; siblings, Robert (Patricia) McIntyre, Mary McIntyre, and Kathie (Buzz) Sodeman. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son-in-law, Michael Warren.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602. Visitation will continue at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 6400 McCarty Road, Saginaw, MI 48603, on Thursday, March 16, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at a later date at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Saginaw.
Memorials in honor of Karen may be made to the East Side Soup Kitchen, 940 E. Genesee Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48607.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I am so sorry for your loss. Aunt Karen was always kind and my memory as a child was always being impressed with her ability to play the organ and piano. She was so proud of her children.
