Obituary
Sandra “Sandy” Cox, age 76, of Saginaw, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 23, 2023. The daughter of George and Dorothy Haines, Sandy was born on January 9, 1947, in White Cloud, Michigan. She married Lawrence Cox on June 25, 1966, and together they shared 53 years. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2020.
Sandy graduated from Fremont High School with the Class of 1965. She worked for Youth for Understanding from October of 1982 until her retirement in October of 2009. A longtime member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Sandy sang with the choir for many years. Over the years, Sandy and her husband, Larry, hosted several exchange students from all over the world. She enjoyed working on puzzles, reading, traveling, and camping. In her earlier years, she played the violin. Sandy most treasured time spent with her family, whether it was dinner, game night, or a quick visit.
Sandy is survived by her loving children, Daniel (Kimberly) Cox, Kathleen “Kathy” (Kevin) Holdwick, Nicole “Nikki” Cox, and Casey Cox (Hannah Rousseau); grandchildren, Bryan (Brittany) Cox, Rebekah Cox (Todd Jones), Dustin Miller, Bret (Nicole) Miller, Dylan Sryock, and Shianne (fiancé Arik King) Cox; great-grandchildren, Adam Cox, Parker Cox, Raidyn Hargrove, Lexus Miller, Analiah Miller, Levi Garno, Logan Miller, Blake Miller, Audriana Miller, Adalynn King and Ansleigh King; siblings, Vickie Deam and Christopher (Katrina) Haines; many nephews, nieces, and friends. Sandy was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, great granddaughter, Raine Jones; siblings-in-law, Theresa Carpenter, Edward Russell Cox, Jr. “Sonny”, Daniel Cox, Jackie Pantak, and Steve Deam.
Visitation will take place on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until time of Funeral Service at 4:00 p.m., at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602. Pastor Chuck Howley will officiate. Burial will take place in summer of 2023 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
Memorials in honor of Sandy may be made to a charity of one's choice.
