Obituary
Benjamin Moran Fletcher, Jr., age 87, of Saginaw, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Center. Ben was born on October 21, 1935, to Benjamin Sr. and Josephine Fletcher in East Orange, New Jersey.
Ben worked for Muehlenbeck Distributing in beverage sales for over 30 years until his retirement. He was referred to by many as “The Miller Man”. A proud veteran, he served in the United States Navy as a Marine Corp Medic. Ben was a civic minded person who served with numerous organizations in his community, including the Fordney Club, Positive Results Downtown Saginaw, FOP Lodge 105, and 100 Club of Saginaw County. He was also instrumental in starting the first Saginaw 4th of July Fireworks show. “Gentle Ben” as he was sometimes called, will be remembered as a loving, caring, and sentimental man.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Margaret Fletcher; beloved children, David (Michelle) Fletcher, Sharon Fletcher Hennessy, and Erich (Christine Gulrajani) Brown; grandchildren, Aleigha (James) Praino, David Fletcher (Karyn Atkinson), Will Harrington, Mark (Audry) Hennessy, Megan (Oded Zimmering) Hennessy, Saige Brown, Myles Brown, Zoie Brown, and Sojourn Brown; 4 great grandchildren; siblings, Mary Jo (Gil) Reiner, and Joie Gilsdorf; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marge Fletcher, Rose Fletcher, Howard Deal, Cheryl (Greg) Becker and Pat Deal; nieces, nephews and many cousins.
Ben was preceded in death by his siblings, Gene Fletcher and Fred Fletcher; sister-in-law, Cindy Marcoux.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of Ben's life held at a later date. Private burial with military honors will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
