Obituary
Karolyn Lee Chicky, age 79, of Linwood Beach, went to be with the Lord Thursday September 29, 2023, with her family by her side. The youngest daughter of Daniel and Bertha (Gillam) Pildner, Karol was born August 9, 1944, in Saginaw, Michigan.
Karol graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1962 and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in social work from Saginaw Valley State University in 1979. She was the financial officer for Chicky Enterprises Inc., a family vacuum and bicycle business in Saginaw. Karol loved to sew, cook, entertain, and was an active church member for 39 years at St. John Lutheran Church in downtown Saginaw. When St. John's closed, she joined Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bay City. Karol was the kind of person that made friends everywhere she went. She enjoyed many friendships with the neighbors on Linwood Beach. Karol was sociable, had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She went out of her way to be friendly to everyone she met. Karol loved to travel and spend time with her husband, daughter, and grandchildren.
Karol is survived by her husband Robert; her daughter Julie (Jack) Miller; grandchildren Jack and Emma Miller; brother and sister-in-law, Martin (Mollie) Pildner; nieces Lori Pildner, Tammy (Stuart Banner) Detloff, Jennifer (Justin) Martin; nephews Bob (Becki) Pildner and Daniel (Danelle) Pildner; Bob's children, Christina Crinnion and Robert (Rachel) Chicky; grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Camillo) Preciado, Olivia (Ryan) Dutour, Alexandra (Chad) Beuter, Nicole Rajewski, Cameron Chicky, and Brendan Chicky; great-grandchildren, Eloise and Miles Dutour, and Forrest Beuter. Karol was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Robert (Lorna) Pildner, Jane (Ralph) Detloff, and Sally (Joe) Prince.
Visitation will take place Wednesday October 4, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday October 5, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Fischer Family Funeral Home, 504 N. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, MI 48602. Pastor Daniel Stoneback of Messiah Evangelical Lutheran Church of Bay City will officiate. Entombment will take place at Oakwood Mausoleum, Saginaw.
